Twila Mae (Schreiner) Davis, 94, died Friday, March 8, at her home in Manhattan, in the arms of her family. She was born February 23, 1919, in Marshall County, the daughter of William and Veda (Shope) Schreiner. On July 25, 1937, she married Franklin Davis, Jr. He preceded her in death in 2004. Twila farmed in Marshall County with Franklin until 1960. She was an accomplished cook, garnering numerous awards and product endorsements. Her cooking skills were enjoyed by many when she and Franklin operated the Davis Westside Restaurant in Frankfort from 1981 to 1990. She was also preceded in death by her son, Franklin; granddaughters, Mary Evelyne Davis and Ashley Welliver; and brothers, William, David, and Orville Schreiner. Survivors include her daughters, Judy Davis, of the home, and Peggy (and Bill) Manges of Clay Center; son, Walter (and Ilene) Davis of Warren, Michigan; six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and four great-great children; sister, Elizabeth Budenbender; brother, Delbert Schreiner, both of Frankfort. Services were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 12, at the United Methodist Church in Frankfort. Rev. Norma Jeane Miller officiated. Jane Sedlacek played the organ while Leslie Smith sings "How Great Thou Art." Other music include "Rock of Ages" and "Amazing Grace." The pallbearers were John Schreiner, Alan Schreiner, Jonathan Bokelman, Laura Alexander, Robert Schreiner and Charles Schreiner. Interment followed at the Mt. Hope Cemetery. Leslie Smith sang "The Lords Prayer." Visitation was Monday, March 11, from 2 to 8 p.m., at Padden Funeral Chapel in Frankfort. The family received friends from 2 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers and in honor of Twila’s compassionate and loving nature, the family suggested contributions to Autism Meet Optimism or the Crisis Center, Inc., in care of Padden Funeral Home, Frankfort.
