Maxine C. Thompson, 95, of Marysville, KS, died Monday, July 22, 2013 at Cambridge Place, Marysville. Visitation will be Thursday, July 25, from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m., at Kinsley Mortuary. A funeral service will be 10 a.m., Friday, July 26 at the United Evangelical Church of Christ, Marysville. Rev. Judy Scott will officiate. Jane Sedlacek will play the organ and sing "Amazing Grace" and "On Eagles Wings". The pallbearers will be Jerry Dick, Kelley Dick, Daniel Dick, Jamie Dick, Jesse Dick and Mike Slupianek. Burial will be in the Marysville City Cemetery. Maxine was born March 19, 1918 at Herkimer, KS, to Armin and Emma (Funke) Slupianek. She attended school at Herkimer and graduated from Marysville High School in 1936. Maxine worked at the Marshall County Treasurers Office, Nemaha-Marshall Rural Electric Coop, and the People's Building and Loan. On January 11, 1943, she was united in marriage to Tyrus Thompson. They opened Thompson Lumber and Construction Company where she was the bookkeeper. Maxine was a member of the Evangelical Church of Christ in Marysville. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tyrus, in 1988; infant son, Steven Kent; and brother, Alan Slupianek. Survivors include her daughter, Karen Dick, Marysville; son, Robert Thompson, Marysville; sister, Ruth Bauer, Rapid City, SD; two grandsons and four great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established in her name and will be designated by the family. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
