Leroy C. Schroller, 73, of Marysville, KS, died surrounded by his family after a short battle with cancer on Friday, January 31, 2014, at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. Visitation was Monday, February 3, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. A wake service was held at 7 p.m., Monday, at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 4, at St. Gregory's. Father Jim Shaughnessy officiated. Bob Welch played the organ while Ron and Fran Grauer led the congregation singing “Be Not Afraid”, “Amazing Grace”, “On Eagles Wings”, “You Are Mine” and “How Great Thou Art”. The pallbearers were Dennis Free, Richard Free, Duane Free, Donald Free, Michael Riblett, Kyler Schroller and Scott Schroller. Burial was in the church cemetery. Leroy was born October 13, 1940, at Marysville, son of Clarence and Minnie (Hurtie) Schroller. In 1958, he graduated from Marysville High School. He attended Wichita State University until returning to help his father at Schroller Body Shop. Since 1970, he owned and operated the business with his wife. The third generation is taking over the operation with his son Jeff and wife. On October 13, 1962, he married Judy Sides at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church in Marysville. Leroy was a member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church and was a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. He helped with the Marysville Union Pacific Depot Preservation Society and was happy to see the depot purchased by the City of Marysville. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, James and Phillip. Survivors include his wife, Judy; four children, Christy (Loren) Riblett, Albuquerque New Mexico, Jeff (Pam) Schroller, Marysville, Kevin (Tonya) Schroller, Manhattan, and Tami Shults, Wamego; 11 grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy Free, Haysville, KS. The family suggests memorials to the Marysville Union Pacific Depot Preservation Society or St. Gregory's Catholic Church. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
