George C. Kenworthy, 71, died Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at the Nemaha Valley Hospital, Seneca. Visitation is 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., Friday, December 26, at the Axtell-Landreth Funeral Home, Axtell. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 27, 2014 at United Methodist Church, Axtell, KS. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Axtell. George was born October 22, 1943 to Willis and Georgie (Reed) Kenworthy. He was a high school graduate and ran a meat locker in Axtell. George worked as a State Meat Inspector, he worked for Golden Eagle Casino and worked out of Marysville for Rail Crew Express. He liked camping, his motor home and traveling out west. George was a member of the Mason’s, Shriner’s and the Scottish Rite. George married Carole Shannahan and they later divorced. She preceded him in death. Others preceding him were his parents; sister, Willa Meiries; and his step-father, Andrew Wessel. Survivors include daughters, Rebecca Moats, Kalispell, MT, Sheila Volle, Summerfield, Renee Critser, Auburn, Conni Fralin, Beatrice, NE; brother, David Kenworthy, Axtell; and nine grandchildren. A memorial fund is established to the Shriners Hospitals for Children. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
