Don W. Rutti

Donald "Don" W. Rutti, 62, of Marysville, KS, died Saturday, May 9, 2015 at his home. Visitation was Wednesday, May 13, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 14 at the United Methodist Church in Marysville. Rev. Dale Lewis officiated. Deb Landoll played the organ while Wayne Kruse sang “In the Garden” and the congregation sang “Old Rugged Cross”. The pallbearers were Lonny Jones, Cork Holle, Ed Hawkins, Dave Iles, Steve Friedrichs, Mark Griffee, Greg Vering, and Mike Craig. The honorary pallbearers were his grandchildren, Kendall Drake and Rudy Friedrichs. Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Don was born May 14, 1952 at Marysville, son of Milan and Marjorie (Shepherd) Rutti. In 1970, he graduated from Marysville High School where he enjoyed playing football. On August 20, 1982, he married Deborah O’Roke at the First Baptist Church in Marysville. They raised four daughters and later divorced. Don loved his kids, grandkids, and family. He enjoyed coyote hunting with his friends, socializing, and gardening. If Don had a choice he would have raised chickens for a living but instead he farmed, operated a road grader and heavy equipment, bartended at the Marysville Country Club, and delivered parts locally for Landoll Corporation. He was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Jennifer Rutti. Survivors include his daughters, Joyce Rutti and partner Kathleen Walsh, Virginia Beach, VA, Jaclyn (Brandon) Drake and their child, Kendall, Fort Worth, TX, and Laura (Clint) Friedrichs and their child, Rudy; brother, Jerry (Lydia) Rutti, St. John, KS; and a sister, Peg (Steve) Friedrichs, Herkimer, KS.
