Ruth Ann Grauer, 82, of Marysville, KS, died Wednesday, November 4 at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. Visitation was Sunday, November 8 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. The family received friends 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 9 at the Marysville United Methodist Church. Rev. Dale Lewis officiated. Deb Landoll played the organ while the congregation sang “Hymn of Promise” and “Blessed Assurance”. Rev. Dale Lewis sang “Mighty to Save” and “In the Garden”. The pallbearers were Brad Moser, Jeff Moser, Trent Moser, Ron McMillan, Brian Grauer, Lonnie Schwindaman, and Scott Schwindaman. Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Ruth was born August 14, 1933 at Marysville, KS, to Leo A. and Mary A. (Cline) Schwindaman. She graduated from Marysville High School. On January 18, 1953 she married Norman W. Grauer at the Marysville United Methodist Church. She worked for J.C. Penney, Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS), Drs. Thomas and Hughes, Community Memorial Hospital, and Ar-Ex Pharmacy. Ruth enjoyed the Grauer, Schwindaman, and Chadwell family reunions and gathering as a family for Christmas. She was an avid and excellent cook. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, fishing, playing cards, going to the casinos, and watching the Kansas City Royals, Oklahoma City Thunder, and college sports. She was a loving and caring sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. Always putting family first and remembered as “tough as nails”. Ruth was a member of the Marysville United Methodist Church and active with the Marysville High School Alumni. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Loren “Doc” Schwindaman and William Schwindaman. Survivors include her husband, Norman; four sons, David (Phyllis) Grauer, Plain City, OH, Douglas (Bette) Grauer, McPherson, KS, Daniel (Joyce) Grauer, Council Bluffs, IA, and Dennis (Sharlyn) Grauer, Shawnee, KS; brother, Dale (Jean) Schwindaman, Rockville, MD; nine grandchildren, Allison, Kevin, Diana, Laura, Ryan, Tiffany, Alisha, Megan, and Tyler; and six great-grandchildren, Gavin, Calder, Annabelle, Hudson, Lucas, and Skylar. A memorial fund has been established to the United Methodist Church or Marysville High School Alumni. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
