Rita Wassenberg Van Gaasbeek

Rita Adelaide Van Gaasbeek, 87, of Albuquerque, NM, died November 2, 2015 at Albuquerque. A rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 13, at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church in Marysville. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 14, at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church. Father Jim Shaughnessy will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rita was born October 7, 1928 at Marysville, KS, to Benjamin and Mary Agnes (Voet) Wassenberg. In 1946, she graduated from Marysville High School. She was united in marriage to Roland Van Gaasbeek and they lived in New Mexico. Rita worked for a lumber company. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bernard Wassenberg, Louis Wassenberg, Maurice Wassenberg, and Joseph Wassenberg; and sisters, Elizabeth Wassenberg, Rosemary Brungardt and Dorthea Wassenberg. Survivors include her husband, Roland; children, Anna Van Gaasbeek and Jon Van Gaasbeek, Los Angeles, CA; and two brothers, Wilfrid "Pete" Wassenberg and Eugene Wassenberg, both of Marysville. A memorial fund is established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
