Edward L. Luppen, age 88, of rural Marysville, KS, died March 18, 2016 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 23 at Immanuel (State Line) Lutheran Church, north of Marysville. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday, March 22 from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. Edward was born May 6, 1927 to George and Fentje (Saathoff) Luppen at Herkimer, Kansas On August 3, 1958 he married Bernice E. Gerdes. Edward served in the U.S. Army in the early 1950's. He was a dairy farmer until the late 1980's until becoming a welder and retiring at the age of 82. He was a lifelong member of Immanuel (State Line) Lutheran Church north of Marysville. Edward served on the Church Council several times, was a member of Lutheran Men in Mission, and the State Line Choir. Edward enjoyed playing baseball with the Lone Elm team and coaching with the Deer Creek little league teams. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bernice on September 25, 1987; sister, Marjory Luedders; and a granddaughter, Amanda Luppen. Survivors include two sons, Larry (Yvonne) Luppen, Barneston, NE, and David (Angie) Luppen, Kimball, NE; sister, Lillian Fish, Englewood, CO; brother, Alvin (Marilyn) Luppen, Marysville, KS; five grandchildren and two great-grand children.
