Jerry I. Pillard, 70, of Hanover, KS, died Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Bryan Medical Center West in Lincoln, NE. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 5 at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Jerry was born August 14, 1945, at Marysville to Raymond and Edna (Broadston) Pillard. In 1963, he graduated from Frankfort High School. He served two years in the U.S. Army. After his discharge he returned and worked at the Blue Rapids Co-op. He then worked as a welder in Lincoln, NE, before working 31 years in the Maintenance Department at Nestle Purina Pet Care Company in Crete, NE. He enjoyed hunting deer and turkey. Jerry participated in tractor pulling events for many years and then continued as an announcer for those events. Jerry enjoyed organizing the Bigelow Reunion. Jerry was a member of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister-in-law, Vicki Pillard. Survivors include his siblings, Gary Pillard, Marysville, Delores Campbell, Baldwin City, Jim Pillard, Beloit, KS, John Pillard, Salina, KS, and Georgia Marish, Blue Rapids; uncle, Ralph Broadston, Steele City, NE; many cousins, nieces and nephews. A memorial fund has been established to the family or Meadowlark Hospice. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
