Velma M. Seitz, 91, Hanover, died Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at the Gardenside Nursing Home, Fairbury, NE. Visitation was from noon until 8 p.m., Monday, September 5, at the Hanover Mortuary. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, September 6 at Zion Lutheran Church in Hanover. Rev. Donna Florio officiated. Mae Nieman played the organ while the congregation sang “Amazing Grace”, “Precious Lord, Take My Hand”, and "My Faith Looks Up to Thee”. The pallbearers were Daryl Seitz, Jeremy Larabee, Ed Steinfeldt, Scott Jueneman, Todd Jueneman, and Lawrence Tegtmeier. Burial was in the Hanover Cemetery. Velma was born July 9, 1925 at Hanover to John and Mary Spandel. She graduated from Hanover High School. In 1955, she was united in marriage to Martin Seitz. Velma loved reading, gardening, canning, cooking and camping. She enjoyed animals, especially cats and dogs. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Martin; and brother, Bernard Spandel. Survivors include sons, Arlo (Deb) Seitz, Columbus, NE, Roger Seitz, Hanover; and one grandchild.
