Margie M. Maendele, 87 of Marysville died October 8, 2016 at CMH Marysville, Ks. Visitation was Tuesday, October 11, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary. The family received friends and relatives from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 12, at First Christian Church in Marysville. Margie was born October 22, 1928 at Marysville, KS, to Luther and Marie (Wheeler) Estes. Her parents farmed in the Blue Rapids area until 1940 when they moved to the Pawnee City, NE, area to farm. Margie graduated from Pawnee City High School in 1946. In June 1946, she married Elmer (Pete) Sunderland and lived in the Summerfield, KS, area. To this union three children were born: Elmer Linn, Linda Gail, and Harold Allen. Margie was a mother and homemaker during her children’s young lives. She worked at Brown’s Clothing Store in Marysville, the Summerfield Grocery Store, and at the Beatrice State Developmental Center in Beatrice for over 22 years. In October 1978, Pete passed away and in August 1981, Allen passed away. Margie and Forrest Maendele were married June 28, 1986 and made their home in Marysville. They enjoyed traveling, playing cards, dancing, grandchildren and a host of friends. Margie also enjoyed crossword puzzles, and reading in her later years. Survivors include her husband Forrest; son, Linn (Pat) Sunderland, Beatrice, NE; daughter, Linda (Larry) Prine, Marysville; stepchildren, Debra (Lynn) Thiele, Beverly (Mike) Wisdom, Kay Maendele; grandchildren, Greg (Sara) Sunderland, California, Renee’ (Shannon) Gibson, Marysville; step grandchildren, Michelle Thiele and husband Robert Adkins; great grandchildren, Slater Sunderland, Zoe Sunderland, and Taylor Gibson; and step great grandchildren, Heather Adkins and Charles (Katie) Adkins. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Pete Sunderland; son, Allen Sunderland; one Infant brother; two infant grandsons; and step-grandson Richard.
