Rachel O. Seematter, 93, of Frankfort, KS, died Sunday, October 9, 2016 at the Frankfort Community Care Home. Visitation was Tuesday, October 11, from noon until 5 p.m. at Padden Funeral Chapel in Frankfort. A rosary service was held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, at Annunciation Catholic Church in Frankfort. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 12 at Annunciation Catholic Church. Father Daniel Schmitz officiated. The musicians were Jane Sedlacek and Amy Jacques. Music included “On Eagles Wings”, “Be Not Afraid”, “Jealous of the Angels”, and “You Raise Me Up”. The pallbearers were Jerrod Wanklyn, Zachary Wanklyn, Bobby Kenworthy, Luke Seematter, Jason Mitchell, Andy Mitchell, Clint Mitchell, Heath Seematter, and Dusty Koch. Burial was in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Frankfort. Rachel was born June 19, 1923 at Frankfort, KS, daughter of Hubert and Clara (Lorson) Roeder. She was the youngest of five children. In 1941, she graduated from Frankfort High School and then completed Normal Training. From 1941 through 1944, she taught at the Koch School District and the Allison School District. On April 19, 1944, she married Roy J. Seematter. Roy left for the Army Air Corps 51 days later on May 30th. She then made her home with her parents in Frankfort to await the arrival of their first daughter on Feb. 15, 1945. Roy returned safely home from England in 1946 and they made their home in Winifred. Four more children were born to the family in the next few years. On February 24, 1962, the family moved to their farm west of Frankfort. The next day the sixth child was added to the family. Rachel enjoyed being a farm wife, mother, and grandmother. She made quilts for her six children, 18 grandchildren, and many more. She also crotched Christmas decorations and doilies for her family and friends. Survivors include her six children, Patricia (Dennis) Wanklyn, Jane (Bob) Kenworthy, Dean (Carolyn) Seematter, twins, Elma (Wayne) Mitchell and Ellen (Robert) Koch, Dale (Janet) Seematter, all of Frankfort; one brother, Hubert "Hub" Roeder, Frankfort; 18 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy; two brothers, Clarence Roeder and Joe Roeder; and sister, Helen Olberding. Before her husband, Roy, passed away on March 16, 2009, one of his life long dreams was fulfilled when a large cross was erected on a hill south of Frankfort on November 2, 2008. Memorial contributions will go toward the lighting of this cross. Contributions may be sent in care of Padden Funeral Chapel.
