William "Bill" R. Schotte

William “Bill” Ray Schotte, 42, of Odell, NE, together with his son, Kayne, joined their Savior near Waterville on October 28, 2016, in a farming accident. Visitation was Tuesday, November 1, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. The family receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 2, at Immanuel (Hermansberg) Lutheran north of Bremen, KS. Rev. Aaron T. Fenker, Sr., officiated. Kathy Pralle was the organist. Music included "Jealous of the Angels”, “Jesus Loves Me”, “Be Still My Soul”, “What a Friend”, and “I’m But a Stranger Here”. The pallbearers were Doug Fragel, Mel Beikmann, Jason Schotte, Mark Beikmann, Lee Mattingly, Mike Beikmann. The honorary pallbearers were Cody Rengstorf, Kolton Schotte, Kyle Schotte, and Logan Waggy. Burial was in the church cemetery. Bill was born September 1, 1974, at Marysville, KS, son of Richard L. and Ruth M. (Beikmann) Schotte. He was raised on a farm near Bremen and attended Bremen Lutheran School. In 1993, he graduated from Marysville High School and from South East Community College in 1995. On June 7, 2008, he was united in marriage to Jennifer Buck-Stoute and became Kayne’s dad on this day. Bill was baptized on September 3, 1974, and confirmed on March 19, 1989, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was a member of Men’s Club, the church choir, was a Sunday School teacher, and board member of Good Shepherd Lutheran School, and served on various other committees. Bill served on the County Township board for several years. He enjoyed coaching Kayne’s baseball team. Bill worked at Valley Vet Supply for 20 years. He also worked with his family in the cattle, swather, and farming operation. Bill battled Cystic Fibrosis with never a complaint. He was always willing to help anyone that needed anything. He loved his family. He was preceded in death by an older brother, Timothy. Survivors include his wife, Jennifer; parents, Rich and Ruth Schotte, Bremen; sister, Amy (Todd) Rengstorf; brother, Kevin (Susan) Schotte; in-laws, Jim Buck, Mary Schroller, Scott Buck, and Daniel (Christina) Buck; 21 nieces and nephews, a great niece and nephew; and many extended family members. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
