Charles F. Goodwin, 66, of Summerfield, KS, died Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the Linn Community Nursing Home in Linn, KS. Visitation was Thursday, November 10, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church in Summerfield. A rosary service began at 7 p.m., following the visitation. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 11, at Holy Family Catholic Church. Father Albert Hauser officiated. The pallbearers were Lee Skalla, Jonathan Fulton, Marvin Tate, Henry Craig, Noel Roorda, and Wilbur Barber. The honorary pallbearers were Noah Goodwin and Zachariah Goodwin. Burial was in the Summerfield Cemetery. Charles was born October 13, 1950, at Summerfield, KS, son of Buddy L. and Rita (Ronnebaum) Goodwin. He graduated from Axtell High School in 1968. He went to Manhattan Votech. In 1970, he entered the U.S. Navy. On December 19, 1970, he married Marlene Weismiller at the Beattie United Methodist Church. Charles worked at the Summerfield Nursing Home as a CNA, CMA, and janitor. He also worked at nursing homes in Pawnee City, NE, and Marysville. He operated a dog kennel, worked on lawn mowers, and enjoyed woodworking. Survivors include his wife, Marlene; children, Francis (Laurie) Goodwin, Junction City, KS, Heather Almendarez (Henry Craig), and Holly (Kyle) Mashburn, all of Washington, KS; brother, Robert Goodwin, Beattie, KS; sister, Mary Riepenkroger, Marysville; 11 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later.
