William "Bill" H. Dierking

William Henry Dierking, 82, passed away December 2, 2016. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, December 8, 2016 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lanham. Burial will be in the Lanham Cemetery. Bill was born December 2, 1934 in Odell, Nebraska. Bill grew up in Lanham, Kansas and graduated from Odell High School. Bill served in the Navy from 1953 to 1957. He attended Kansas State and graduated with a BS in Engineering. Bill, Louise, and Linda moved to California where Bill worked at Rockwell International in Anaheim, California. While living in California, Bill enjoyed camping, riding his motorcycle to and from work, and fixing up his old Fiat. After 30+ years at Rockwell, Bill retired in 1991 and moved to Hanover, Kansas. Bill enjoyed going to auctions, volunteering at church, and working on computers. Bill spent many hours in his shed doing his wood working projects and furniture refinishing with Louise. Bill also spent time collecting data for the Washington County Historical Society to help people search for loved ones in the local cemeteries. He helped deliver Meals-on-Wheels and coordinated a monthly schedule. Bill loved technology and television shows about how things were made. He enjoyed reading political jokes and sending jokes thru email. Bill enjoyed visiting the Kansas landmarks and road trips back to California. Bill even made several trips to visit his college and Navy buddies in Minnesota. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Louise (Brockmeyer), his sister, Dorothy Brei (Harlan) of Omaha, Nebraska, his daughters, Linda Putnam (Richard) of Sonora, California, Connie Kingsland (Dave) of Orange, California, Leslie Bruna (Jeff) of Colwich, Kansas, six grandchildren, Lindsey, Chris, Alison, Kelly, Jake, and Morgan, and one great-grandchild, Tenaya. A memorial fund has been established to the St. John’s Lutheran Church. Contributions may be sent in care of the Hanover Mortary, Hanover.
