Inez A. Plegge, 80, of Oketo, KS, died January 7, 2017, at Cambridge Place Nursing Home in Marysville. Visitation was Tuesday, January 10, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 11 at The Crossing in Marysville. Richard Mullen officiated. Sheriena McEvers played the piano while the congregation sang “In the Sweet Bye and Bye”, “Amazing Grace”, and “I’ll Fly Away”. The pallbearers were David Strathman, Lynn Bruna, Jeff Schell, Francis Kroeger, Rick Wilson, and David Wilson. The honorary pallbearers were the Lucky Mrs. EHU group, Rochelle Loeffler, Joyce Schroller, and Joann Clowe. Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Inez was born February 5, 1936, at Herkimer, KS, daughter of William and Martha (Mueller) Frerking. She was baptized February 14, 1936 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church north of Bremen, KS, and confirmed there on April 2, 1950. In 1954, she graduated from Marysville High School. On June 27, 1954, she married Arlo Plegge. They later divorced. Inez worked as a waitress in high school. She later worked at Safeway, City Sewing, and operated the Oketo Corner Inn. She became a crop adjuster and was a Crop Insurance Agent for 30 years before retiring. She was a member of the Lucky Mrs EHU and was active in church and bible studies. Inez enjoyed fishing in her youth, gardening and canning, reading, painting, and traveling to see her daughter in St. Thomas. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Arlan Frerking. Survivors include her children, Linda (Butch) Schmitz, Marysville, Doug (Janet) Plegge, Frankfort, and Pat (Billy) Pratt, St. Thomas, VI; brothers, Leonard (Irene) Frerking, Summerfield, KS, and Merlin (Darlene) Frerking, Marysville; and sister, Nila Miller, Topeka, KS; 5 grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and 18 step great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established to Meadowlark Hospice, Good Shepherd Lutheran School, or St. Gregory's Catholic School. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
