Raymond E. Ahlvers

Raymond Edward Ahlvers, 82, Frankfort, died January 21, 2017 at the Frankfort Community Care Home. A graveside funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 28, at the Frankfort City Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were Justin Smith, Branton Smith, Cole Ahlvers, Wade Ahlvers, Dave Smith, Joe Burton, John Peckham, and Dennis Ahlvers. Raymond was born July 16, 1934, at Glen Elder, KS, the youngest of four children to Adolph and Leila (Deland) Ahlvers. He attended Lone Hill Country School and graduated from Glen Elder High School in 1952. On November 25, 1954, he married Diane Barnett at Glen Elder, KS. In March 1956, Raymond, Diane, and his mother Leila, moved to a farm southwest of Frankfort where he farmed with his brother, Melvin. They lived on the farm until 2011, when he and Diane moved into Frankfort. Raymond was a kind and honest man whose greatest loves were his family, sports, hunting, fishing, farming, country music, Christmas, ice cream, and a good laugh. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, A. Harold Ahlvers and Melvin Ahlvers; infant sister; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Ahlvers, Helen Ahlvers, and Dorothy Ahlvers; and brothers-in-law, Verdon Peckham and Marlin Rathbun. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Diane; children, Sandra (Joe) Burton, Lynn (Dave) Smith, Keith (Patty) Ahlvers, all of Frankfort, and Lori Ahlvers, Charlotte, NC; sister, Bonnie Rathbun, Salina; ten adoring grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Frankfort Community Care Home. Contributions may be sent in care of Padden Funeral Chapel.
