Margaret M. Johnson (widow of Roland Johnson), 102, of Marysville, died February 17, 2017, at Community Memorial Healthcare, Marysville. Visitation will be Friday, April 28, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, April 28, at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 29, at St. Gregory's Catholic Church. Margaret Magdalena was born on July 6, 1914 on the Treinen farm near Marysville to Matthias and Anna (Meier) Treinen. She attended Dow School and St. Gregory’s Catholic School and graduated from Marysville High School in 1932 with a normal training and college preparatory degree. She attended Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia and was a rural school teacher for eight years. On May 22, 1940, she was united in marriage to Roland Johnson and helped him farm, raise registered hogs, registered Polled Hereford cattle and with his seed sales in Oketo, KS. Margaret enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting, tatting, oil painting, china painting, rug hooking and genealogy. In 1994, she took a trip to Europe to visit ancestral homes in Germany, France and Luxemburg. Margaret was a member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, the Altar Society and St. Gregory’s Quilters. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roland on March 1, 1993; and brothers, Thomas, Robert, and Arthur Treinen. Survivors include her three children, Norma Johnson, Topeka, Dr. Donald Johnson and wife Isabelle, Pueblo West, CO, and Dr. Phyllis Johnson and husband Dr. Peter Suedfeld, Vancouver BC, Canada; five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. A memorial fund is established to the St. Gregory’s School Endowment Fund. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
