Wesley W. Fett

June 15, 1934 — May 29, 2017

Wesley William Fett, 82, died Monday, May 29, 2017 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. Visitation was from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday, June 5, at Kinsley Mortuary, Marysville. Graveside funeral service was at 1:30 p.m., Monday, June 5 at the Marysville City Cemetery. Rev. William Rushing officiated. The pallbearers were Jim Ocker, John Ocker, Joe Ocker, Ben Rushing, Isaac Rushing and John Rushing. Wesley was born at rural Fairbury, NE, on June 15, 1934, to William and Wilhelmina (Thaye) Fett. He graduated from Fairbury High School and then served in the Army. After he was honorably discharged, he came to Marysville to farm. Wes sold insurance, which he enjoyed, as it gave him an opportunity to fraternize with the local farmers and members of his community. He also like the farm; he often talked about the fun he had caring for the cows, pigs and the gardening. Wes also owned and operated the Gambel’s store in Wymore. On July 21, 1984, he was united in marriage to Marie Rushing at the Church of the Nazarene in Junction City. Wes enjoyed being a member of the Marysville Christian Fellowship Church, where he could show his beautiful singing voice. After going to Cambridge Place, he could attend the services there and continued to find time to sing, often during meal time in the dining room. His songs and vibrant personality brought lots of joy and laughter to those around him. Wes was a die hard “Huskers” fan and never missed watching a game if he could help it. He was a collector of Husker memorabilia. He was active in the Wymore Jaycees, where he helped with many of their community projects. Family was so important to Wes, so naturally holidays and birthdays were some of his favorite times. He always made it a point to know how his family was doing and show his support. Melissa, his daughter, made him so proud and bragged about her accomplishments in her education and career. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Deloris Fett. Survivors include his wife, Marie; daughter, Melissa Fett, Washington, D.C.; and a sister, Donna (Sharon) Ocker, Sioux City, IA. A memorial fund will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary, Marysville. To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Wesley W. Fett, please visit our flower store.
