Jerrie L. Johannes, 82, of Marysville, died June 14, 2017, at Cambridge Place in Marysville. Visitation was Thursday, June 15, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. The family received friends 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 16, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Marysville. Rev. Philip Miller officiated. Carol Wright played the organ while Greg Marples sang "How Great Thou Art". The pallbearers were Dennis Mason, Dr. William Oborny, Jake Perez, David Richardson, Dennis Rockwell, Rich Rockwell, and Bud Schuette. The honorary pallbearers were Robert Griswold and "Old Buzzards". Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Jerrie was born June 2, 1935, at Lanham, NE, son of Herman and Irene (Miller) Johannes. In 1954, he graduated from Marysville High School. On May 6, 1961, he married Nancy Littell at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mission, KS. In 1964, they moved to Marysville and he worked as a barber. Jerrie operated the Bulldog Barber Shop for 55 years before retiring. He was a past longtime member of the Marysville Volunteer Fire Department, M-Act, was a Boy Scout Leader, served on the U.S.D. 364 School Board for 24 years, and Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant brother, Glenn. Survivors include his wife, Nancy; two daughters, Debra (Karl) Trautman and Sheryl (Dennis) Trask; and three grandsons, Luke Trask, Benjamin Trask, and Samuel Trautman. A memorial fund has been established to the Marysville Area Community Theatre (M-Act) or the Glenn Miller Birthplace Society Scholarship Fund. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
