Darlene K. Broxterman, 88, Vermillion, KS, died Monday, July 10, 2017 at the Frankfort Community Care Home. Visitation was Wednesday, July 12, from noon until 5 p.m. at Padden Funeral Chapel in Frankfort. A rosary service was held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, at Annunciation Catholic Church in Frankfort. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 13, at Annunciation Catholic Church. Father Daniel Schmitz officiated. The readers were Connie Fischer and Diane Tilley. Mooge Roeder played the organ while Rheta Matson led the nieces and nephews singing “Be Not Afraid”, “Here I Am Lord”, “Amazing Grace”, and “How Great Thou Art”. The pallbearers were Bill Holthaus, Ralph Scott, Gary Neff, Bob Mitchell, Mark Hedke, and Toby Broxterman. Burial was in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Lillis. Darlene was born on January 22, 1929 at Kelly, KS to Spence and Mary (Fienhage) Scott. She graduated high school and received a degree at Marymount College, Salina, KS. She later received a Master’s in Hospital Administration at St. Louis University in St. Louis. On January 20, 1973, she married Ralph Broxterman at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lillis. She enjoyed family and loved being a farmer's wife and foster Mom. Prior to marriage, Darlene worked in financial offices and as a hospital administrator, at different hospitals primarily in North Central Kansas. She was a member of St Joseph Catholic Church at Lillis until it closed and then became a member at Annunciation Church in Frankfort. Survivors include her husband, Ralph; son, Daniel (Susie) Broxterman, Frankfort; and sister, Rita Neff, Topeka. Preceding her in death were her parents; and siblings, Gilbert Scott, Sylvester Scott, Bill Scott, Ethel Hedke and Mildred Scott. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later.
