James “Jim” Robert Hasenkamp, 67, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2017, at his home in rural Burchard, NE. surrounded by his family. Visitation was on Friday, September 22, from noon until 5 p.m. at the Axtell-Landreth Funeral Home in Axtell. A rosary service was at 7 p.m., Friday, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Summerfield. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 23 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Father Gova Narisetty officiated. The musicians were Kirsten Meybrunn and Sheryl Burger. Music included “Be Not Afraid”, “We Remember”, “I Am the Bread of Life”, and “On Eagles Wings”. The pallbearers were John Farrell, Junior Holthaus, Joe Hasenkamp, Jerry Osterhaus, Larry Hasenkamp, Steve Hasenkamp, and Danny Hasenkamp. The honorary pallbearers were Chase Hain, Hunter Hain, Alex Menninga, Lane Mosteller, and Drew Menninga. Burial was in St. Bridget Catholic Cemetery. Jim was born August 8, 1950 in Axtell, the second of five boys, to Ray and Eileen (Kramer) Hasenkamp. He attended school and graduated from Axtell High School. He married Patricia Skoch, July 1, 1972 at St. Benedict Catholic Church and they were blessed with three daughters. Jim and Patty lived west of Axtell until March 1975, when they moved to rural Burchard, NE, where they farmed. Jim worked numerous jobs to support his true love of farming. He loved the outdoors, hunting and his cattle. His greatest joy was family, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and watching their various activities. Jim was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Summerfield. Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Bruce Hasenkamp; and brother-in-law, Gene Schraad Jim is survived by his loving wife, Patty; daughters, Tina (Corey) Hain, Dubois, NE, Tammy (David) Menninga, Burchard, NE, Tonya (Ross) Mosteller, Bern, KS; grandsons, Chase and Hunter Hain, Alex and Drew Menninga and Lane Mosteller; granddaughters, Brooke Hain, Sabre and Krista Menninga, and Maddy and Lindy Mosteller; brothers, Larry (Diane) Hasenkamp, Joe (Marian) Hasenkamp and Steve Hasenkamp, all of Axtell, KS; sisters-in-law, Betty Schraad, Seneca, KS, Judy (Jerry) Osterhaus, Seneca, KS, Cathy (Tom) Farrell, Frankfort, KS, and Barb (Jim) Bille, Bonner Springs, KS; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial fund is established and will be designated by the family. Contributions may be sent in care of Axtell-Landreth Funeral Home, Axtell, KS.
