Darel Gene Whitebread, 84, of Marysville, Kan., died Friday, December 1, 2017 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 3, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 4, at Kinsley Mortuary. Rev. John Kisling will officiate. The musicians will be Deb Landoll and Wayne Kruse. Music will include “Amazing Grace” and “You Lift Me Up”. The pallbearers will be Chris McClellan, Jarred McClellan, Bill McClellan, Dean Thomas, Chad Whitebread, Blaine Kloppenberg, and Ryan Kloppenberg. Burial will be in the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Blue Rapids, with Military Honors by the Marysville American Legion Post 163. Darel was born on September 29, 1933 at Blue Rapids, Kan., to Rollin and Alice Berneil Warren Whitebread. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War serving from 1951 to 1954. On April 15, 1961, he was united in marriage to Nancy Grauer at Miami, Okla. Darel was a truck driver for Landoll's, Koch's, and several others, and did construction. He then was a bus driver for the Marysville school district for 10 years until retiring. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Whitebread, Marysville, four children, Fred (Pat) Whitebread, Malcolm, Neb., Joni (William) McClellan, Marysville, Mike (April) Whitebread, Baker City, Ore., and Jill (Kelle) Tuttle, Marysville; eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; and a brother, Terry (Katie) Kloppenberg, Council Grove, Kan. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother; grandson, Josh; and a great-granddaughter, Isabella. A memorial fund will be designated later and can be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
