Mary Louise Runnebaum

Mary Louise Runnebaum, 94, of Marysville, Kan., passed away December 12, 2017 at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. Visitation will be Friday, December 15, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. A rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Friday, at St. Malachy's Catholic Church in Beattie, Kan. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 16 at St. Malachy's Catholic Church. Father Nathan Haverland will officiate. The musicians will be Laura O’Neil and Paula Landoll Smith. Music will include “Table of Plenty”, “Amazing Grace”, “How Great Thou Art”, and “Angels Among Us”. The readers will also be her granddaughters, Janell Hager and Jackie Bryan. The pallbearers will be her granddaughters, Laurie Garber, Tamara Metcalf, Kim Sargent, Jen Sedlacek, Renee Gibson, Jessie Gurtler, Jamie Nordstrom, and Elizabeth Jones. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Beattie. Mary Louise was born March 15, 1923 at Coal Creek, Kan., daughter of Clement and Wilhelmine Lake. On January 24, 1942, she married Bernard A. Runnebaum at St. Malachy's Catholic Church. They farmed, ran a dairy in the Beattie and Axtell area until moving to Marysville in 1993. Mary Louise loved spending time with family, playing cards, camping, an occasional trip to the casino and watching birds out her window at Country Place. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 70 years, Bernard Albert; parents; step dad, Donald Waters; three sons, Paul Gerard Runnebaum, Ronnie Lee Runnebaum, and Eugene Richard Runnebaum; brother, Clem; two infant great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Doug Wood. Survivors include twelve children, Bernie (Cathie) Runnebaum, Olathe, Kan., Ralph (Judy) Runnebaum, Manhattan, Kan., Larry (Geri) Runnebaum, Beattie, Judy (Bob) Ballman, Marysville, Jim (Deb) Runnebaum, Axtell, John (Amy) Runnebaum, Marysville, Lynn (Kim) Runnebaum, Marysville, Lou (Jim) Wassenberg, Marysville, Janet Runnebaum, Alma, Kan., Joan (Shane) Hartner, Marysville, Mark Runnebaum, Marysville, and Greg (Linda) Runnebaum, Boonville, Mo.; daughter-in-law, Lori Runnebaum, Waterville; twenty-seven grandchildren, thirty-seven great-grandchildren, and twelve great-great-grandchildren; and a step brother, Joe (Eunice) Dore, Bella Vista, Ark. A memorial fund has been established to the Marshall County Special Olympics or Marshall County Relay for Life. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
