Elma Mable Hough, age 95, died on December 24, 2017 at the Frankfort Community Care Home, Frankfort, KS. She was born in Frankfort on June 21, 1922 to Robert Calvin and Edna Mae (McConchie) Warnica. She attended Fairmont Grade School and graduated from Frankfort High School in 1940. She worked at Glynn’s Grocery Store during high school. After graduation, she worked at various other companies including Southwestern Bell, Kansas Power and Light, Russell Stover, J.C. Penney, and Scott Air Force Base (Belleville, IL). On April 6, 1957, she was united in marriage to Arthur Hough in Belleville, IL. They later moved to Flora, IL where Art was Vice President at First National Bank. Elma worked at Howell’s Radio and TV, the City of Flora, and was a library assistant at the Cumberland Trail Library. After Art’s retirement in 1986, they spent some fun-filled years in Fairfield Bay, AR before returning to Frankfort in 1991. Elma enjoyed dancing, attending concerts, going on many cruises with Art, attending 40 and 8 events, collecting Norman Rockwell, Hallmark, Beanie Babies, and other collectibles as well as spending time at family gatherings and watching nieces and nephews at school and sporting events. Elma was a member of the Frankfort United Methodist Church, 50-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Civic Club and Business and Professional Women’s Club. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband Arthur in 2012; sisters, Evelyn Mary Barnes, Etta Mae Parthemer, Ella Marie Gough, Eldana Marcine Ferguson, Elaine Marjorie Thompson and infant, Elizabeth Madge Warnica; and brother, Emmett Marvin Warnica. Survivors include her brother Robert William (Nelda) Warnica, Manhattan, KS; sister, Emma Maxine Stewart, Washington, KS; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and other relatives and friends. Visitation was from noon until 8 p.m., Friday, December 29 at Padden Funeral Chapel, Frankfort. The family greeted friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 30 at 10 am at the United Methodist Church, Frankfort, with Rev. Jim Akins officiating assisted by Marilyn Sweet. Music was furnished by Janet Plegge, Kim Stewart and Micah Kee. Songs were "Wind Beneath My Wings," "The Old Rugged Cross" and a violin solo, "The Beautiful Garden of Prayer. Pallbearers were Chet Fincham, Joe Parthemer, Mike Thompson, Don Parthemer, Steve Lundberg and Jerry Parthemer. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Barnes, Bob Gough and John Gough. Burial was in the Frankfort City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be designated to the Frankfort United Methodist Church or Meadowlark Hospice.
