Alice C. Crawford, age 68, of Frankfort, KS, passed away on March 27, 2026, at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan, KS.
A graveside service will be held at noon on April 12, 2026, at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Frankfort. Father Anthony Chendumalli will officiate. A Celebration of Life will follow immediately afterwards at the David L. Crawford Memorial VFW Post #1359/Leo McMinimy Post #181 American Legion in Frankfort.
Alice was born November 18, 1957, in Marysville, Kansas, to Ralph and Teresa (Marksman) Burton. She was a lifelong resident of Frankfort.
On September 10, 1979, she was united in marriage to David Crawford. Together they had four children. David passed away on January 14, 1989, following a tragic accident. Alice remained strong and raised their four children on her own. Her family was the most important part of her life and remained so even in her final hours.
Even after David’s passing, Alice enjoyed helping with VFW activities and staying involved in her community. She also enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors with her family, creating many lasting memories together.
Thanksgiving at the Burton home was always a momentous occasion. Alice would begin cooking days in advance, often preparing multiple turkeys. During the Christmas season, she made batches of peanut clusters and caramel popcorn to share with those she loved. Her specialties included macaroni salad and meatballs, and if you were lucky, she would make her famous burritos.
Alice worked as a CMA/CNA at the Frankfort Community Care Home before later taking on various jobs around Frankfort, where she enjoyed meeting and visiting with many people.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David; and her sister, Mary Joseph.
Survivors include her children, Michelle (Todd) Oehm of Marysville; Derek (Tara) Crawford of Marysville; Jolene (David) Wessel of Frankfort; and Lisa (Chad) Gordine of Salina; her grandchildren, Haley Oehm of Florida; Catalina Oehm and Gauge Oehm of Marysville; Sadie, Amelia, and Dawson Wessel of Frankfort; Braxton and Kynslee Crawford of Marysville; and Kaylor, Kaytryn, and Lockryn Gordine of Salina; her siblings, Donna Burton of Topeka; Ralph (Kimm) Burton of Frankfort; Joe (Sandra) Burton of Frankfort; Kenny (Sue) Burton of Frankfort; Barb (Matt) Ohlde of Linn; Julie (Matt) Schindler of Wichita; and Jane Welch of Topeka; as well as many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established to the David L. Crawford Memorial VFW Post #1359 Scholarship. Contributions may be sent in care of Padden Funeral Chapel, c/o Kinsley Mortuary, P.O. Box 147, Marysville, KS 66508.
