Bertha M. Whitlinger, age 99, from Marysville, KS, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2023, at Cambridge Place in Marysville. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 9, 2023 from noon until 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 10 at Kinsley Mortuary. Gary Phillips will officiate. A private family burial will take place after the service. Bertha was born December 6, 1923, in Armstrong County, PA, to Frederick and Bertha (Bittner) Shellhammer. On August 29, 1941, she was united in marriage to Robert Whitlinger. To this union, they were blessed with three sons. For a long period of her life, Bertha was a prep cook at June’s Bar and Grill in Marysville. Some things she enjoyed doing were bowling and spending time with her family. She will be remembered as a positive, loving, wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and the best mother-in-law in the world. Survivors include her children, Robert (Carolyn) Whitlinger, Marysville, John (Ladonna) Whitlinger, Marysville, and Richard (Carolyn) Whitlinger, Olympia, WA; sister, Rena Henderson, Elders Ridge, PA; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and longtime friend and neighbor, Rosalie Babb, Marysville. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert; parents, Frederick and Bertha; brothers, Daniel, Dale, John, Charles, Bob and Eugene; sisters; Ada Hileman, Eva Goldinger, Iva Rupp, Ola Brown, Eula Kepple, Esta Bawol, Elva Barber, Vida Goldinger, Nina Brown and Retta Ellenberger. A memorial fund is established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
