Betty A. Raymond, 75, Vermillion, passed away on October 13, 2021, at Onaga Health & Rehab, Onaga, KS. Visitation will be Sunday, October 17, 2021 from noon to 8 p.m. at Padden Funeral Chapel in Frankfort, KS. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 18, 2021 at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Frankfort, KS. Father Anthony Chendumalli will officiate. Pallbearers are Travis Koch, Dusty Koch, Mike Krohn, Adam Koch, Alex Koch and Jeremy Koch. Honorary pallbearers are Shawn Pike, Lucas Smith, David Smith, James Koch, Patrick Wassom and Raymond Wassom Betty was born October 21, 1945, in Axtell, Kansas, the daughter of Alvin and Bertha (Magnett) Koch. She was a longtime resident of Vermillion, KS before entering the care home. Betty graduated from Frankfort High School in 1963. On October 17, 1964, she married Arthur “Quentin” Raymond at Annunciation Catholic Church. After their wedding she traveled with Quentin for the remainder of his Naval career, spending most of their time in San Diego, California. In 1977 they returned to Kansas where she worked at Dutch’s Place in Vermillion, KS before purchasing Lillis Tavern in Lillis, KS. Betty was stubborn, feisty, funny, bold, honest, and tender. She was very witty and clever, and she had an answer for everything and gave it to you whether you wanted it or not. She was well known for her amazing Betty burgers and served them until her retirement in 2015, due to dementia. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Quentin; one sister, Carol Pike; and brother Randy Koch. Survivors include her brothers Robert (Ellen) Koch and Ronnie (Ellen) Koch, both of Frankfort, KS; Dale Koch of Marysville KS and sisters Jean (Kent) Smith, Belleville, KS and Carla (Bob) Wassom, Hubbell, NE, along with many nieces and nephews. A memorial has been set up for the Frankfort American Legion/VFW. Contributions can be sent in care of Padden Funeral Chapel.
