Obituary

Betty J. Latta, age 95, of Marysville, Kansas, passed away on December 31, 2025, at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville.

Visitation was held from noon to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 4, at Kinsley Mortuary, with the family present to receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

A funeral service took place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 5, at First Christian Church in Marysville. Pastor Adam Borgman officiated. Burial followed in the Marysville City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Shannon Obley, James Seth Buxton, Andy Rombeck, Alex Rombeck, Matthew Odom, and Austin Rombeck.

Betty was born on October 28, 1930, in Wymore, Nebraska, to William “Bill” and Goldie Irene (Keck) Fletcher. She graduated from Marysville High School in 1949. On October 8, 1950, she was united in marriage to Dale Latta at First Christian Church in Marysville.

Throughout her working years, Betty was employed at the ASCS office in Marysville, Firestone, and later at the office of the Marysville Sale Barn.

Betty was a devoted mother and grandmother who deeply loved her family. She was an exceptionally talented seamstress and lovingly made clothing for her children when they were young, always paying close attention to every detail. She had a beautiful singing voice and enjoyed sharing her gift through church music. Betty also took great pride in keeping a well-kept home.

Betty was a charter member of Beta Sigma Phi and remained very active in the organization for many years. She and Dale treasured time spent with their friends and were known for enjoying life together. During retirement, they loved to travel—whether by bus tour or spontaneous road trips—and Betty especially enjoyed stopping at craft shops along the way. For nearly ten years, they wintered in Phoenix, where they formed lasting friendships with people from across the United States and Canada.

Betty also enjoyed relaxing at home and loved watching the Kansas City Chiefs.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale, on May 3, 2011; and her sisters, Jeannie Timperly, Beverly Miller, and Norma Louk.

Survivors include her three daughters, Deborah (Jim Jr.) Buxton of Phoenix, Arizona; Lori (Donald) Odom of Marysville; and Becky (Steve) Rombeck of Beattie; a brother-in-law, Gary Miller; nine grandchildren; and twenty-six great-grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
