Billie J. Wassenberg

Billie J. Wassenberg, 90, of Frankfort, KS, died Friday, July 29, 2022, at Frankfort Community Care Home. A rosary service was held at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 2, at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church in Marysville. A funeral service followed at 10:00 a.m. The pallbearers were Jim Borgerding, Josh Volle, Matt Wassenberg, Jake Curtis, Ryan Stade and Gary Wassenberg. Father Quentin Schmitz officiated the service. The musicians were Rosemary Forst and Paula Landoll-Smith. The Lector was Jodee Borgerding and gift bearers were Jill Borgerding and Samantha Volle. Burial was in St. Gregory’s Catholic Cemetery. Billie was born on January 3, 1932, in Island, KY, to Frank and Louise (Dunlap) Foote. She went to high school in Owensboro, KY. On October 17, 1970, Billie was united in marriage to Wilfred Wassenberg at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Owensboro, KY. Billie managed the Surf Motel in Marysville for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sisters, Cecil Ann Foote and JoAnn Roberts. Survivors include her many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
