Bonnie M. Rasmussen

September 16, 1943 — June 8, 2025

Frankfort, Kansas

Bonnie Mae Rasmussen, 81, of Frankfort, Kansas, passed away on June 8, 2025, of pancreatic cancer complications.

Born on September 16, 1943, in Frankfort to Jonathan Clayton and Etta Mae (Warnica) Parthemer, Bonnie was the eldest of six children and is lovingly remembered by her siblings: Nancy Ricklefs of Kansas City, and Jerry Parthemer (Lana), Joe Parthemer (Marty), Don Parthemer (Suzy), and Mary Ann Fincham (Chet), all of Frankfort.

She married Lauretz (Larry) Rasmussen Jr. in 1962, and his U.S. Navy service took them to Rhode Island, Connecticut, Virginia, South Carolina, California, and Guam before they settled in Peoria, Illinois. After Larry’s passing in 2001, Bonnie moved to Dacula, Georgia, and returned to Frankfort in 2010.

Bonnie worked in accounting and was known for her precision—whether balancing books, planning meals, or designing her flowerbeds. She had a servant’s heart, preparing thousands of meals for church groups, funeral dinners, community events, and extended family. Her true joy was feeding others, especially those in need. A woman of deep faith, Bonnie was active in the United Methodist Church wherever she lived. She had a special gift for sensing when others were grieving and quietly offering care.

She cherished travelling with family and spending time with her granddaughters, especially teaching them to sew and sharing her many skills with patience and love.

Bonnie is survived by her children, Kevin Rasmussen (Stephanie) of Piney Flats, Tennessee, and Sonya Kee (Micah) of Frankfort, and her granddaughters, Catherine of Oklahoma City and Clara of Frankfort.

Bonnie will be remembered for her warmth, strength, faith, and boundless love for her family, friends, and community.

A memorial fund has been established to the Frankfort United Methodist Church or the Frankfort Development Trust. Contributions may be sent in care of Padden Funeral Chapel, c/o Kinsley Mortuary, P.O. Box 147, Marysville, KS 66508.
