Buena A. Ellenbecker, 84, of Marysville, Kan., died August 24, 2019 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. Visitation will be Monday, August 26, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A rosary service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 27 at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville followed by the funeral service at 10:30 a.m.  Father Nathan Haverland will officiate.  The musicians will be Rosemary Forst and Paula Landoll-Smith.  Music will include “Here I am, Lord”, “Amazing Grace”, “On Eagles Wings” and “How Great Thou Art”. The pallbearers will be Mike Duever, Tony Duever, Andrew Duever, David Ellenbecker, Joe Ellenbecker, Alex Bunger and Landon Barnes. The honorary pallbearers will be Jason Wassenberg, Bill Roggenkamp, Robert Nusbaum, Mike Ellenbecker, Philip Ellenbecker and Charles Ellenbecker. Burial will be in St. Gregory's Catholic Cemetery. Buena was born September 10, 1934 at Axtell, Kan., to Edwin and Edith (Pavlicek) Roggenkamp.  In 1952, she graduated from Baileyville High School.  In 1954, she graduated from Marymount Nursing School in Salina. On June 7, 1955, she married Joseph S. Ellenbecker at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church in Marysville. Buena was a member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church and Altar Society.  She served as a Eucharistic Minister at church, hospital and nursing homes. She was a nurse for two years at the Randall Hospital and Haerle Hospital in Marysville and also worked several years at City Sewing.  Buena served as a hospice volunteer for seventeen years, was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and the quilting group at St. Gregory’s. Family gatherings of any kind were fun for her and meant a lot.  Traveling was also a passion and enjoyed trips with her friends.  She loved people and providing comfort to them. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph Ellenbecker on November 16, 2000; son, David Ellenbecker; infant sister, Laura; and brother, Alvin Roggenkamp. Survivors include her children, Janet (Gary) Duever, Marysville, Patrick (Jami) Ellenbecker, Marysville, Sharon (Ron) Waltrip, Olathe, Kan., and James (Stacie) Ellenbecker, Marysville; siblings, William Roggenkamp, Sabetha, Kan., and D. Gene Roggenkamp, Baileyville; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established to Meadowlark Hospice or Cancer Society.  Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
