Charlene K. Kirkpatrick, 89, Marysville, died September 23, 2024, at her home.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., October 5, at the Memorial Presbyterian Church in Marysville. Pastor Shannon Borgman will officiate. Music will include "Circle of Life", "Amen" and "His Eye Is on the Sparrow."
Burial will be in the Marysville City Cemetery.
On September 30, 1934, Charlene was born to Carl Wilber “CW” and Myra (Theis) Strand in Marysville. In 1953, she graduated from Marysville High School. On December 26, 1953, Charlene was united in marriage to Lynn R. Kirkpatrick. Together they were blessed with three children, Carl, Kathy, and Risë. They later divorced.
Charlene worked for several businesses in town and retired in May of 2000 from Marysville Mutual Insurance Company as a claims processor after thirty-two years.
Charlene was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for over fifty years, serving as president for several years and managing it for four and a half years. She also oversaw Bingo.
Watching the legion baseball team, embroidery, and making her children and grandchildren blankets and tea towels were all among the things Charlene enjoyed doing, along with being a local history buff.
Preceding her in death were her parents; son, Carl; sisters, Karen Manz and Carlene Hull; two infant brothers; son-in-law, Verdis Zimmerman; and brothers-in-law, Bob Hull and Frank Manz.
Survivors include daughters, Kathy (Jerome) Ellis, Manhattan, KS, and Risë Zimmerman, Beatrice, NE; daughter-in-law, Kerrin Kirkpatrick, Manhattan, KS; sister, Virginia (Lawrence) Zidek, Onaga, KS; grandchildren, Kayla (Just Colcord) Williams, Aaron (Lisa) Kirkpatrick, Joshua (Jessa) Ellis, Marian (David) Skaggs, Jacob (Julle) Ellis, Paul Kirkpatrick and Rachel (Judah) Baird; great-grandchildren, Angelina Ellis, Adrial Ellis, Lillian Skaggs, Jonathan Kirkpatrick, Abigail Skaggs, Cooper Ellis, Archer Ellis, Dean Kirkpatrick, Jaxson Ellis, and Myra Baird; step-grandchildren, Rodney (Cori) Zimmerman and Geana Blythe; step-great-grandchildren, Miranda Camin, Jaslin Blythe, Amber Blythe, Mercedes Zimmerman, MacKenzie Chaline and Aiden Chaline; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial fund was established for the Marysville American Legion SMN&R Post #163 baseball team, Food Pantry or Pony Express Partnership for Children. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
