Charlie was born on March 14, 1934, to Andrew and Helena (Buessing) Broxterman in Seneca, KS. On Nov. 11, 1958, he married Rita Tangeman in St. Benedict, KS. He was a loving father to 10 children. He also enjoyed 23 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
He was a member of the Annunciation Catholic Church, American Legion, and Frankfort Knights of Columbus Counsel No. 1383. He served in the Army from 1955 to 1957.
Charlie was referred to as many things, wearing many hats. Some of which included great grandpa, grandpa, dad, and Charles. He was a man of many talents as he accomplished great things throughout his lifetime. Charlie was a member of the REC board, a farmer who grew row crops as well as raised cattle and hogs, a mechanic and most importantly, a jokester. His humor is something that can be picked out in any crowd and even on his last days, he wouldn’t fail to make you laugh. One of his favorite ways to waste away time was by enjoying a nice warm coffee at CJ’s. We will always remember how he made each person feel welcome, always making sure to remind you how much he loved you. The presence he brought into a room could be described as bright sunshine overcoming a cloudy day. Charlie showed his kind soul through his words and actions while making sure you always felt comfortable.
Charles Joseph Broxterman was a god serving man who lived his life through laughs and joy while being a man everyone always wanted to be around. We love you very much and will always try to live our lives with the same love you had for Rita. Till we meet again.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; siblings Sally Scott, Leonard (Bud), Elsie Becker, Bob, Ralph, and Tom. Also preceding was his son Jon in 1990.
