Cheryl Lyn (McIntyre) Rieth, 75, of Hanover, Kansas passed away peacefully at the Hanover Hospital on May 1, 2026.
Visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m., on Friday, May 8th, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Hanover.
A rosary service will follow at 10:30 a.m. and the funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m.
Private burial will take place in St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
Cheryl was born October 1, 1950, in Highland, KS, to John and Lila Belle (Gurney) McIntyre. She was a 1968 graduate of Marysville High School and Emporia State University in 1972. Cheryl married the love of her life and best friend, Gary, June 16, 1972, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Hanover.
Cheryl worked as a bookkeeper for many years. Her logical approach to numbers and problem solving was always present. Whether balancing the books, keeping score for ball games or helping with countless homework problems over the years, she loved a good challenge. In more recent times, she loved watching Jeopardy daily with whomever would engage in the competition.
Though she never considered herself creative, Cheryl found joy in sewing and crocheting. “Grandma can fix it…” became a familiar and comforting phrase, as she lovingly mended, hemmed, and patched whatever was needed. Cheryl was happiest when spending time with Gary, and while she will be deeply missed, we find comfort in imagining their adventures continuing together.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her husband, Gary; her parents, Lila and stepfather Billy Weier, John McIntyre; and brothers, Michael McIntyre and Mickey McIntyre.
Survivors include her two daughters and sons-in law, Angel and Kim Lohse, Hanover and Jamie and Doug Schulte, Platte City, MO; beloved dog Dolly; 5 grandchildren, Trey Lohse and fiancé, Allison Jueneman, Hanover, Tiana and husband, Jace Schaefer, Fairbury, NE, Tessa Lohse, Hanover, Lane and husband, Chase McCain, West Fork, AR, and Eli Schulte, Platte City, NE; 2 great-grandchildren, Millie Schaefer and Murphy McCain; one sibling, Randy McIntyre, Fairbury, NE; and many extended family members.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is established and will be designated later by the family. Contributions may be sent in care of Hanover Mortuary c/o Kinsley Mortuary, P.O. Box 147, Marysville, KS 66508.
