Daniel “Skip” Shortle, 70, of Marysville, KS, passed away May 24, 2023 at his home. A graveside service was held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 31, at the Marysville City Cemetery. Dan was born February 23, 1953, in Buffalo, NY, to Charles and Lucille (Libby) Shortle. In 1971, he graduated from Marysville High School and attended Emporia State University. On May 6, 1978, he was united in marriage to Wendy Harder at in Hickman, NE. Dan and Wendy recently celebrated their 45th Anniversary. Dan worked for Union Pacific Railroad as a brakeman and later as a conductor. In 2013, he retired after 40 years of service. Over the years he was a member of a fast pitch softball team and a founding member of the Marysville Crappie Club. Fishing and camping were a big part of his life and he enjoyed taking his family to the lake in the summer. He also enjoyed golfing, playing cards, grilling with family and friends and watching the KC Royals and KC Chiefs play. Preceding him in death were his parents; stepfather, Earl Tidwell; and brothers, Patrick Shortle and Bill Tidwell. Survivors include his wife, Wendy; daughter, Donna (Ryan) Drinkgern; and sons, Tom Shortle and Robert (Mindy) Shortle; brother, David (Kandy) Shortle; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial fund is established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
