Delmar Henry Schotte, 87, of Marysville, KS, passed away March 30, 2023, at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. Visitation was Monday, April 3, from noon to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 4, at the Immanuel Lutheran (Hermansberg) Church, north-east of Bremen. Rev. Aaron Fenker, Sr., officiated. Kathy Pralle played the organ and Wayne Kruse was the soloist. The music selections were “Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me”, “Amazing Grace”, “I Know that My Redeemer Lives” and “Abide With Me”. The pallbearers were Erik Schotte, Jonathan Schotte, David Schotte, Matthew Fuchs, Zachary Potratz, Jacob Potratz, Carson Bohlken and Connor Bohlken. Burial was in the church cemetery. Delmar Henry Schotte, 87, of Marysville, KS, passed away March 30, 2023, at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. He was born on July 9, 1935, in rural Marshall Co., to Henry and Martha (Klaus) Schotte. On July 21, 1935, he was baptized and was confirmed on April 10, 1949. Delmar practiced Christian mercy and grace with his family and friends. He enlisted in the Army and was in the National Guard. Delmar received his GED and worked at the Herkimer Coop for over 40 years and as a grain elevator manager there for 30 plus years of that time. He enjoyed working with the local farmers and developed many friendships. On April 13, 1958, he was united in marriage to Annette Meyer at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hanover. She preceded him in death. On July 8, 2006, he married Karen Rowland at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Bremen. One of the great joys of Delmar’s life was spending time with his grandchildren. He loved to fish, play catch, give tractor rides and read stories to them. Together, they made memories that they will cherish for life. He also enjoyed farming, raising livestock and the rural way of life. In his later years, he looked forward to driving in the country, looking at crops and appreciating the beauty of God’s creations. Delmar was an active member of the local Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Herkimer and Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bremen. In both congregations, he was an active member of Men’s Club, choir and held various church offices. He was preceded in death by his parents; spouse, Annette Schotte in 2004; daughters-in-law, Becky Schotte and Janet Schotte. Survivors include his wife, Karen, Marysville; children, Mark Schotte, Winfield, KS, Rev. Michael (Barbara) Schotte, Preston, KS, Kristin (Mark) Fuchs, Paola, KS, Janelle (Kevin) Potratz, Seward, NE, and Nichole (Brad) Bohlken, Wymore, NE; brother, Loren (Kathy) Schotte, Liberty, NE; grandchildren, Erik (Audrey) Schotte, Amanda (Brandon) Neff, Christine (Dan) Grimmer, Catherine (Mattias) Goldenstein, Jonathan Schotte, David Schotte, Erin Fuchs, Matthew Fuchs, Zachary Potratz, Jacob Potratz, Jenna Potratz, Brianna Potratz, Carson Bohlken, Connor Bohlken, Carly Bohlken; and great grandchildren, Kalvin Schotte, Tyson Schotte, Cameron Schotte, Natalie Neff, Annette Neff, Adam Grimmer, Simeon Grimmer and Martha Grimmer. A memorial fund has been established to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery Fund. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
