Delmar H. Tjaden

Delmar H. Tjaden, 81, of Marysville, KS, died peacefully May 9, 2021 at the Frankfort Community Care Home in Frankfort, KS. Visitation was Thursday, May 13, from noon until 9:00 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary. A private funeral service was held Friday, May 12 at Immanuel Stateline Lutheran Church, north of Marysville. The service was livestreamed at 10:00 a.m. on Kinsley Mortuary’s Facebook page. Rev. Suzanne How officiated. Mary Lou Retchless was the organist. Music included “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”, “Just A Closer Walk with Thee” and “Lord, Take My Hand and Lead Me”. The pallbearers were Jake Bessler, Dustin Key, Skyler Tjaden, Charlie Ring, Mathew Tjaden, Mason Chandler, Logan Nickelson and Clayton Saathoff. Burial was in the Immanuel State Line Lutheran Cemetery. Delmar was born February 15, 1940 at Odell, NE, son of Andrew and Tena (Wiemers) Tjaden. In 1957, he graduated from Marysville High School and grew up farming north of Marysville. His loves were his family, especially his grandchildren, and farming. On April 29, 1962, Delmar was united in marriage to Janice (Nickeson) Tjaden at the Wymore Methodist Church in Wymore, NE. They were blessed with 59 years of marriage. Through their love, they had five children: Rebecca, Debra, Brian, Patricia and Ryan. Delmar was an active member of Stateline Lutheran Church where he served on the church board several times. He enjoyed square dancing, collecting pens, Hesston belt buckles, farming in the fields, and raising cattle. He was the happiest when he was out in the fields. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca Tjaden; parents; brother, Vern Tjaden; sister-in-law, Leona Tjaden; brother-in-law, William Ewald; sister-in-law, Anita Nickeson, great-grandson, Everett Tjaden, and nephew, Grant Searcey. Survivors include his wife; children, Debra (Robert) Harris, Herkimer, Brian (Teri) Tjaden, Marysville, Patricia (Matthew) Chandler, Bonner Springs, KS, and Ryan (Jamie) Tjaden, Marysville; sister, Nelda Ewald, Port Orange, FL; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established at Stateline Lutheran Church. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
