Donald McLaughlin

Donald McLaughlin, 83, Vermillion, died Friday, January 24, 2020. The funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Monday, February 3 at Padden Funeral Chapel, Frankfort. Burial was in the Vermillion City Cemetery. Don was born November 22, 1936 at Corning to Roland and Ceona (Coe) McLaughlin.  He graduated Corning High School and went on to become a farmer and rancher in Marshall, Nemaha and Pottawatomie counties.   He also ran a harvest crew from Texas to Canada. Don was a Cowboy and trained horses in his youth.  He also loved to attend auctions. He thoroughly enjoyed checking his cattle and ranching.  Spending time with grandchildren and hearing about their activities and seeing pictures was especially important to him.  Don took great pride in the achievements and successes of his brothers, sisters, children and Grandchildren.  Family was everything to him.. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Kathryn; grandchild, Sean McLaughlin; great grandchild, Shea Schreiner; and brother, Duane McLaughlin. Survivors include his daughters, Debra Schreiner, Mayetta, Shellene Acosta, Calhoun, MO; son, Kevin McLaughlin, MN; brothers, Jerry McLaughlin, Centralia, Elton McLaughlin, Fairview, MO; sisters, Brenda Elliott, Centralia, Betty McDaniel, Stark City, MO; and eleven grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren.
