Donald R. Richardson, 62, of Marysville, KS, passed away October 20, 2023, at Blue Valley Health and Rehab in Blue Rapids, KS.
A visitation was held from noon to 9 p.m., Tuesday, October 24, at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. The family received friends from 6 to 8 pm.
A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, October 25, at the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Marysville. Rev. Julie Shields officiated. The organist was Deb Bruna. Music included "I Am the Light of the World", "In the Garden", and "The Old Rugged Cross."
The pallbearers were Daniel Richardson, Jordon Deponty, Mike Richardson, Warren Richardson, Chad Crome, Jerrod Rose and Derek Pretre.
The honorary pallbearers were Andrew Richardson, Bryan Richardson and Troy Power.
Burial followed in the Marysville City Cemetery.
Donald was born in Marysville on January 1, 1961, to Warren and Evelyn (Griswold) Richardson. He attended school in Marysville and in 1980, graduated from Marysville High School. During his high school years, he worked as a soda jerk at the Triangle Drug Store.
On August 3, 1996, he was united in marriage to Michele Marx at the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Marysville. To this union, they were blessed with three sons.
He worked at Pizza Hut for five years, Landoll Corporation for eight years, as a donut maker for Daylight Donuts and twenty-five years as a cook at Community Memorial Healthcare.
Donald was a member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ, serving on the EUCC Church Council. He was active in helping with Soup Day and helped prepare the Easter Pancake Breakfast.
He served as a Cub Scout Master, was a member of the Jaycees and a member of the Sons of the American Legion. Donald enjoyed baking cakes, playing games on his phone, doing projects around the house and watching KSU Football, KC Chiefs and KC Royals. He taught the boys how to cook, collected nativity scenes and enjoyed decorating the yard with Christmas decorations.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Michele; sons, Caleb Richardson, Joshua Richardson, and Jacob Richardson; and brothers, Dennis (Patty) Richardson, Dale (Kay) Richardson and David (Mary) Richardson all of Marysville.
Memorial fund contributions will be used for medical expenses and may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
