Dorothy was born February 4, 1938, at Seneca, Kansas, daughter of Francis and Leona (Kramer) Stallbaumer. She attended school in Kelly and was a 1956 graduate from Kelly High School. She received her nursing degree from The Sisters of Charity School of Nursing at Providence Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas in 1961.
On October 14, 1961, she married Eugene “Gene” Peschel at St. Bede’s Catholic Church in Kelly. This union was blessed with three children: Teresa, Kate, and Dan.
Dorothy began her nursing career in 1961 at Community Memorial Hospital in Marysville as a registered nurse. She retired in June 2002 after 41 years of dedicated service.
She filled her time with sewing, mending, quilting, embroidery, crocheting and any other little project that would come her way. She kept up with the family history and was active in the community by volunteering at St. Gregory’s, a member of the Red Hat Ladies and Club 30. Gene and Dorothy enjoyed many games of pinochle with friends. After retiring, she enjoyed getting together with her former co-workers. Dorothy cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and following their activities.
