E. Joyce Johnson

E. Joyce Johnson, (Wiseman) 91, of Frankfort, KS, passed away December 25, 2023 at her home.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 30, at Salem Lutheran Church, southwest of Axtell, KS.  Internment will be in the church cemetery.

Joyce was born March 29, 1932, in Vermillion, KS, to Perry and Grace (Buckles) Wiseman.  She attended school in Vermillion, graduating in 1950.  On November 11, 1950, she was united in marriage to Harlan Johnson at Salem Lutheran Church.  They were blessed with four children, Pam, Mark, Steve and Sheri. Joyce and her family lived on the Johnson family homestead for 40 years where she was a farmwife and helped Harlan with his insurance business. This past November they celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary.

Her immense pride of her grandchildren, her home, yard, and community gave her much fulfillment. She enjoyed baking and made sure everyone had something to eat when visiting and at holidays (even if we had just finished a meal). With Harlan, she traveled through all 50 states, and abroad, and joined him on many crop tours and other adventures over the years. She was an active member of Salem Lutheran Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Mary Louise Cain, Betty Bullock, and JoAnne McClary.

Survivors include her husband, Harlan; four children, Pam (Joe) Horigan, Frankfort, Mark (Janice) Johnson, Vermillion, Steve (Mary) Johnson, Frankfort, and Sheri (Marc) Edwards, Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Megan (Ryan) Sandberg, Kelly Horigan, Kara Horigan, Melissa (Jeremy) McDonald, Nathan Johnson, Alex (Abigail) Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Dana (Paul) Krivanka, Tori Johnson, Courtney Edwards, Allyse (Jake) Dowell and Jason Edwards; great-grandchildren, Avery Sandberg, Connor Sandberg, Chase McDonald, Maggie McDonald, Lennox Johnson, Amelia Krivanka, Kira Krivanka and Luke Krivanka.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Twin Valley Developmental Services and sent in care of Padden Funeral Chapel, Frankfort.
