Eldon J. Zimmerman

July 31, 1938 — March 29, 2018

Eldon J. Zimmerman, 79, of Marysville, Kan., died March 29, 2018 at Lincoln, Neb.  He was born July 31, 1938 at Marysville, son of Jacob George III and Pearl (Swartzleonard) Zimmerman.Visitation was Tuesday, April 3, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary.  The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m.A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 4 at the Marysville United Methodist Church.  Rev. Dale Lewis officiated.  Rev. Dale Lewis officiated.  The musicians were Deb Landoll and Rev. Dale Lewis.  Music will include “In the Garden”, “When the Roll is Called Up Yonder” and “See You Again”.The pallbearers were Ron Phillips, Marvin Kramer, Dan Feldhausen, Jim Ellenbecker, Ryan Zimmerman and David Zimmerman.The honorary pallbearers were Stan Linnemann and Rick Linnemann.Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery.On Sept. 22, 1959, he married Jeannette Newman with whom he had four children with.  They later divorced.On Aug. 21, 1978, he married Karen Dittemore.  She preceded him in death on Sept. 24, 2005.On Feb. 14, 2009, he married Jane Thomas Volle.Eldon served in the U.S. Marines between 1959-62.  After his honorable discharge he returned to Marysville.  He worked at Pepsi Cola in Marysville and started out in bottling and later worked various jobs with Pepsi in his 50 plus year career there.He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, telling jokes, bowling and pool.  He helped with Meals on Wheels and enjoyed friendships at the Senior Center where he often played pool after lunch.  Eldon was a very gentle and sweet man who was loved by all.Eldon was preceded in death by his parents; second wife, Karen; infant son, Eldon Jacob Zimmerman, Jr.; stepson, Lee Volle; brothers, Orville, Clifford, Kenneth, Virgil, Harold and Richard; and sisters, Geraldine and Verneda.Survivors include his wife, Jane; children, Tina (Greg) Kretz, Wamego, Kan., Amy Samsel, Cheyenne Wells, Colo., Steve (Lisa Dorr) Zimmerman, St. George, Kan., and their mother, Jeannette, Manhattan, Kan.; step children, Martin Volle, Gayla (Gerry) Snyder, Pam Linck, Stan Linnemann, Rick Linnemann, Linda Noller and Julie Mitchell; sister, Lucille Butler; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later.  Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
