Francis "Tiny" L. Claeys, 90, of Marysville, Kan., died March 11, 2018 at the Centennial Homestead in Washington, Kan.A rosary service was held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 15 at St. Gregory's Catholic Church.A funeral service followed at 10:30 a.m., Thursday at St. Gregory's Catholic Church with Father Nathan Haverland officiating.  Organist was Rosemary Forst and the choir sang “Be Not Afraid,” “Prayer of St. Francis,” “Only a Shadow,” “Song of Farewell”  and  “You are Mine.” Pallbearers were Steve Vering, Dustin Claeys, Dillon Claeys, Mike Jueneman, John Borgerding and Christopher Claeys. Honorary pallbearers were Ryan Claeys, Matt Claeys, Alan Vering, Michael Claeys, Henry Claeys, Jim Claeys and David Jueneman. Burial was in the church cemetery.Tiny was born July 22, 1927, at Marysville, son of Emiel and Marie (Van Heicke) Claeys.  In 1946, he graduated from Marysville High School.  He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from November 3, 1953 until his honorable discharge on August 3, 1955. He farmed northeast of Marysville with his family.  Tiny enjoyed fishing, playing cards with friends and family, and riding around, touring the neighborhoods. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Margaret Wood; and five brothers, Maurice, Lawrence, Victor, Gustoff and August Claeys. Survivors include his sisters-in-law, Maxine Claeys and Mary Claeys; and many nieces and nephews.
