E. Eugenie "Genie" Long

Eugenie "Genie" Long, 93, of Marysville, KS, died March 9, 2020 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. Visitation will be Friday, March 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary. A rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Friday at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 14 at St. Gregory's Catholic Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Genie was born September 29, 1926 at Waterville, KS, to George and Orba (Stewart) Roepke. In 1944, she graduated from Marysville High School and then attended one year at Kansas State. In 1947, she was united in marriage to Francis Long. To this union two sons were born, Richard and Robert. During the war, Genie worked for the Radio Factory in Marysville and then City Sewing Company. She served several years as Marshall County Commissioner. Genie was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Chamber of Commerce, Phi Omega Pi Study Club, and Class of ’44 Alumni Group. Genie also volunteered at the Helvering Senior Center with exercise classes. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Francis; sister, Beulah Malman; and brother, Daryl Roepke. Survivors include her sons, Richard (Millie) Long, Lincoln, NE, and Robert (Peg) Long, Lovell, WY; two grandchildren, Chris (Kelsey) Long and Jen (Dennis) McNamara; and four great grandchildren, Lillie Long, Beckett Long, Daphne McNamara and Jasper McNamara.
