Glenda M. Christener

Glenda Mae Christener, 80, Marysville, died June 25, 2019 at Community Memorial Healthcare, Marysville, KS. Visitation was from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m., Friday, June 28 at Kinsley Mortuary, Marysville.  The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service was held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, June 29 at the United Evangelical Church of Christ in Marysville.  Rev. Julie Shields officiated.  The musicians were Deb Landoll, Marisa Warren, Bryan Chapman and Jeremy Nolte.  Music included “When I Get to Where I’m Going”, “Angels Among Us”, “Jealous of the Angels” and “Pretty Woman”. The pallbearers were Joe O’Toole, Joseph O’Toole, Brenda O’Toole, Greg Boss, Jason Weber, Curtis Schuster, Jim Keller and Donnie O’Toole. The honorary pallbearers were Gayle Landoll, Cathy LeSage, Linda Cohorst, Carolyn Jones, Linda Price, Alice Kjellberg, Cherie Ferris, Jonna Hubbard, Linda Weber and Pam Layton. Burial was in the Home City Cemetery, Home, Kan. On January 23, 1939, Glenda was born at Blue Rapids, Kan., to Nelson and Florence (Ensley) Kelley.  She was a high school graduate and married Larry Christener.  She traveled with Larry while he served in the U.S. Army.  They were able to travel many places and dine at the Eiffel Tower.  Glenda had an international driver’s license. When he was discharged, they returned to the family farm.  Glenda worked at the Marshall County Courthouse, Garden of Eden, CJ Express and Casey’s, along with helping with the farm. Glenda was an excellent cook and was famous for her pickles.  She loved traveling, dancing, attending tractor pulls, riding motorcycles and going to casinos.  She was a member of the Red Hat Society, Beta Sigma Phi Society and the American Legion Auxiliary.  Glenda enjoyed her family and holidays. She was everyone’s Grandma. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry in 2010; and sister, Beverly Edwards. Survivors include her children, Lori Reid, Miller, Mo., and Richard Christener, Marysville; sister, Sheri Christensen; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A memorial fund is established and will be designated by the family.  Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
