Iven Ilen Horn, 79, of Beattie, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, November 29. He was born April 22, 1946, in Plattsmouth, Nebraska, to Ross and Elsie Horn, and was one of seven children.
Iven graduated from Glenwood High School in 1966 and soon after entered the United States Army. He served his country with distinction in Vietnam as a member of a highly specialized Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol unit and was a trained Paratrooper.
Following his military service, Iven married Sandra Vinton in Iowa. Together they raised two children, Wyatt and Dawnell. Iven spent much of his life farming in Iowa and Kansas, and also worked in manufacturing at Landoll Corporation. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved attending family activities, spending time outdoors, and watching westerns on television.
Iven is survived by his wife, Sandy, of Beattie, KS; his children, Wyatt Horn and grandson Nathan of Bremen, KS, and Dawn (Jim) Block and grandchildren Andrew and Elise of Austin, TX; and his five siblings.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sibling; and his daughter-in-law, Jennifer Horn.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
