James "Jim" W. Knecht

James "Jim" W. Knecht, 73, Marysville, died Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Bryan West in Lincoln, NE. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 29, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 29, at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, November 30, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Gregory's Catholic Church. Father Quentin Schmitz will officiate. The pallbearers will be Fred Cohorst, David Schell, Joe Cohorst, Jerry Lake, Brad McKeever and Kerry Smith. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Jim was born January 16, 1949, at Whittemore, Iowa, son of Arnold and Helen (Fangman) Knecht. In 1967, he graduated from Immaculate Conception Academy in Elma, Iowa. He served six years in the U.S. Army Reserve. On October 3, 1970, he married Barbara Carroll at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Lourdes, Iowa. Three children were born, Patrick, Jamie and Justin. In 1987, the family moved to Marysville, KS, when Jim began working for Landoll Corporation. Jim did service and warranty work for Landoll’s. He was a member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. Jim was a hard-worker and enjoyed golfing, fishing with the Crappie Club and socializing. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Austin Cozad Knecht; brother, Thomas Knecht; and sister, Linda Knecht. Survivors include his wife, Barb; children, Patrick “P.J.” Knecht, Jamie (Matt) Claeys, and Justin Knecht, all of Marysville; four grandchildren, Haley Nester, Gage Nester, Konor Knecht and Shannon Knecht; and three brothers, Darrell (Cindi) Knecht, Elma, IA, Dean (Sheila) Knecht, Osage, IA, and Dale Knecht, Britt, IA. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
