Janet C. Slupianek

Janet C. Slupianek, age 89, of Marysville, Kansas, passed away on July 4, 2026, at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8, at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville.

Janet was born on December 6, 1936, in Marysville, to Henry Norbert and Jessie Edith (Fakler) Schmidt. She attended Marysville Public Schools and graduated from Marysville High School in 1954. As a young woman, she worked at the Isis Theatre before spending several years as a telephone operator. Later, Janet was employed as the receptionist and secretary for the Marshall County Noxious Weed Department, where she worked until her retirement.

On July 21, 1955, Janet was united in marriage to Arlyn William Slupianek. Together they made their home in Marysville and were blessed with two children, Steven Kent and Laura Kay.

Janet enjoyed watching classic western television shows, especially Gunsmoke and Wagon Train, and spending time playing cards with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arlyn, on February 20, 2005; in-laws, Emil and Freda Slupianek; brothers, Clyde Henry Schmidt and Glenn Norbert Schmidt; sister, Hazel Iris Johnson; brothers-in-law, Wilbur Johnson, Frederick Miller, Norbert Slupianek, and Caroll Slupianek; sisters-in-law, Lucille Schmidt, Alice Schmidt, Marcia Slupianek, and Rosanne Slupianek; nephews, Wade Miller and Michael Slupianek; and nieces, Neva Chapp and Janet Johnson.

She is survived by her son, Steven (Deb) Slupianek of Marysville; daughter, Laura Slupianek of Marysville; sister, Jean Miller of Emporia, Kansas; sister-in-law, Shirley Evans of Topeka, Kansas; and many loved and cherished nieces and nephews.
