Jean Floyd, 90, of Beattie, KS, passed away surrounded by family members who meant the world to her on February 28, 2024, at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many.

The visitation took place on Monday, March 4, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. The graveside service was held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 5, at the Beattie Union Cemetery, north of Beattie.

The honorary pallbearers were Ryan and Amy Johnson, Rylee and Nick Wolfe, Dusty and Kim Floyd, Dalen Floyd, Rylan Johnson, Jadyn Johnson, Jordyn Nietfeld, Brynlee Wolfe, Adlee Wolfe and Sadie Wolfe.

Jean was born February 24, 1934, in Axtell, KS, daughter of Carrol "CD" and Hilda (Schroeder) Burks.  In her early years, Jean attended Barklow Country School in Richland Center Township and graduated from Beattie High School in 1952.  On August 16th, 1953, Jean was united in marriage to Glen Floyd at Richland Center Church. Her journey through life was marked by significant milestones both personally and professionally. In 1963, alongside her husband Glen, she embarked on the wheat harvest journey from southern Kansas to North Dakota. Jean played a vital role in hauling grain to the elevator while also looking after the crew with her culinary skills and maintenance expertise. From 1979 to 2010, she dedicated herself to driving a school bus for USD 364.

Jean's talents extended beyond her professional endeavors; she was known for her exceptional sewing skills. She delighted in creating costumes and outfits for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Furthermore, Jean was actively involved in crafting and ceramics - a passion that not only brought her joy but also touched the lives of those around her.

Her proudest accomplishments included being a charter member of Beattie PRIDE and Friends of Beattie and playing an integral role in the Beattie Park project. Jean generously volunteered at the Beattie Museum and served as a leader in 4H sewing and crafts. She was also a devoted member of the Beattie Eastern Star.

Survivors include her loving husband, Glen; children Kent (Lynette) Floyd of Beattie and K'Lyn (Steve) Bergman of Frankfort; her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Ryan and Amy Johnson (and children Rylan, Jadyn Johnson, Jordyn Nietfeld), Rylee and Nick Wolfe (and children Brynlee, Adlee, Sadie), Dusty and Kim Floyd, and Dalen Floyd; and sister, Helen Burks of Lincoln, NE.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial fund has been established and all donations will go towards benefiting the Beattie community.   Contributions may be made to the Jean Floyd Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
